Ingredients:
1 small green bell pepper, finely diced
¼ cup celery, finely chopped
1 small onion, finely diced
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely diced
2 cups lean ground beef
1 ¾ cups canned tomatoes, diced
1 ¾ cups canned tomato sauce
1 ¾ cups canned pinto beans, undrained
1 ¾ cups canned kidney beans, undrained
1 tsp. garlic, minced
1 ½ tbsp. Chili powder
1 ½ tsp. Cumin
½ tsp. Oregano
¼ tsp. black pepper
Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Place a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat and add some oil.
- Once oil is hot, add ground beef to the Dutch oven and cook until browned.
- Add the onion, green bell pepper, celery, kidney beans, jalapeno pepper, and pinto beans to the Dutch oven and stir to combine all the ingredients.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes.
- Sprinkle the mixture with chili powder, minced garlic, oregano, black pepper, cumin, and salt, stirring well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Then reduce the heat to low, cover the Dutch oven with a lid, and let it simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
