Ingredients:
¾ cup German chocolate cake mix
¾ cup milk
2 eggs
1 ¼ cups caramel bits
¼ cup canola oil
1/3 cup evaporated milk
½ cup butter, unsalted
1 ½ cup pecans, chopped
½ tub chocolate fudge frosting
¾ cup chocolate chips, milk chocolate flavor
Instructions:
- Coat a 9×9” baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Add cake mix, eggs, canola oil, and milk in a mixing bowl, and blend using a hand mixer until smooth.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared baking dish, place in the preheated oven at 350°F, and bake for 15 minutes.
- In the meantime, place a saucepan over medium heat, add butter, caramel bits, and evaporated milk, and stir until smooth.
- Pour the melted caramel mixture over the partially baked cake, followed by a layer of chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
- Spread the remaining cake batter over the pecans and chocolate chips, then return the baking dish to the oven for another 20 minutes of baking.
- Once done, remove the bake form the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
- Warm the Chocolate Fudge frosting by gently stirring or heating it for 10 to 15 seconds, then evenly spread it over the cake.
- Spread extra chopped pecans and chocolate chips on top and place in the refrigerator.
- Once ready to serve, take it out of the oven, slice and serve.
