INGREDIENTS:
For The Cabbage Rolls:
2 pounds of ground beef
1 large head cabbage
1 ½ cups white rice, cooked
1 small yellow onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 whole eggs
¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp cumin powder
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
For The Tomato Sauce:
3 ½ cup canned fire-roasted tomatoes with juice
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small yellow onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tsp Red chilli flakes
HOW TO MAKE CABBAGE ROLL CASSEROLE:
For the Tomato Sauce:
Step 1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
Step 2. Once oil is hot, add yellow onion and sauté until it turns translucent.
Step 3. Add minced garlic, give it a good stir, and continue to sauté until fragrant.
Step 4. Then add fire-roasted tomatoes, tomato sauce, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer until warm.
For The Cabbage Rolls:
Step 5. Pour water into a big pot and bring to a boil.
Step 6. Place the whole cabbage in the pot, cover, and boil for 7-8 minutes.
Step 7. Remove cabbage, peel off 12 leaves, and set them aside.
Step 8. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, diced onion, cooked rice, minced garlic, pepper, salt, Italian
seasoning, and cumin, eggs.
Step 9. Lay cabbage leaves flat and remove the thick stem.
Step 10. Fill each leaf with a portion of the beef mixture and roll them up tightly.
Step 11. Grease a 9×13 baking pan with non-stick spray.
Step 12. Spoon half of the tomato sauce into the pan.
Step 13. Place the cabbage rolls, seam down, on top of the sauce and pour the remaining sauce over the
cabbage rolls.
Step 14. Cover with aluminum foil, place in the preheated oven at 350°F, and bake for 90 minutes or until
the cabbage is soft.
Step 15. Once done, remove from oven, garnish with minced parsley, and serve hot.
